Well I thought I should should post my progress ! It´s been a little slow lately, since Ive been waiting for woods and also building a drumsander + started on guitar nr 2. so lots in the air !! :D

I got some extremely beautiful wood from Stephen at Colonial Tonewoods. and I must give him a [:Y:] times 10 on the service !! If your guys haven´t used Colonial Tonewoods. I can only say, you have to !!! The wood Stephen sent me was more than exellent. I took a few photos of my progress and the mac you´ll see, all comes from Colonial !! (the fretboard is from John Watkins who´s also done more than one could ask for !!!! but he got the mac from Stephen at colonial as I understood it :D

Click photos for larger views !

Also posting a little photo of where I am at on the drumsander.

I like it. How are you planning to finish off the finger board at the sound hole?

I am also eager to see how you finish off your drum sander!

Thanks a million !!! bliss Lets just hope I dont mess up, really easy to slip with the chisel etc haha.

I am not sure on how I will do the end of the f-board Stephen. I think I will try to make it like the top of the headstock or something that matched some shape on the guitar. On the drumsander I am not going for a beauty haha "as you can see " just something that will do the job." just needs to build the feed-table and install the "up/down thingy" :D .

Also ! here a photo of the logo I will use, it satnds for "Laurence Stahl" I need to file the it a bit so it becomes smoother i guess, (man that was hard to saw) did probably 6 before this one) its one piece. Do you guys and gals think I can use it or does it seem to ruff on the edges etc ??

Lars.

Excellent work Lars! She's a beauty in the making! My eyes aren't the best anymore but I can't see anything a file and sandpaper can't smooth. That's a very classy logo so do whatever it takes to make it work for you!

Hi Lars,
Both the Guitar and the sander look great.
I just want to say, looking at the drum sander picture; I noticed that your pulley is right up next to the drum. I would recommend that you move it closer to the pillow block bearing. This will reduce the chance of the shaft deflecting due to the weight of the motor pulling down on it.
I look forward to seeing its completion.

Lars, I really like your work.
And the logo is not only enterprising, but quite attractive.
Take your needle files and smooth those edges as carefully as you can. Every little bump or saw mark will show, so smooth them off. Your design deserves that!

Jättebra, Lars! Your guitar will look spectacular!

The drum sander looks like it will do its job well, it is actually built pretty much the same as mine. You might want to consider adding some reinforcements to diminish torsional deformation of the frame; the more rigid you can make it, the better. Strategically placed diagonals or plates (plywood, osb, whatever) will all work.
