As I resolved to do, I've start the "approximative translation" of the R. Bouchet's notebook.
Here is the first page, I'll add some pages tomorow or later ... (depending how much free time I'll have - the shop is to cold to work for the moment ;)).

I've began with the D. Friederich comments, which are really interesting (and it's the biggest part of the job). Should I post it again when the file will be updated ?

That's very nice Cyril. I look forward to additional pages. I, and others, I'm sure, appreciated your effort.

"stitch" - I believe he is referring to the "Medullary Rays" in the wood, based on the rest of the statement. I could be mistaken, though. Probably a nickname for the cross rays that "stitch" the grains.

You're probably right waddy ... I'll ask to a french Luthier (Benoit de Bretagne) who stayed in england to study (no lutherie school in france ... :( ) to confirm, and I'll try to correct it for the next file I'll post. It'll be difficult to translate the first part of the book without scanning pages and it's probably illegal ... don't really know how I'll do the job for the first part. I'll have to write about it to the moderators ... ;)

oops_sign I have to correct ... "No GUITAR lutherie school" ... We've got a great school for violons makers, but if I want to study guitar making, I'll have to move in england or canada.
