I was preparing some cocobolo side billets prior to re-sawing and thought it wood ;) be interesting to show the drastic difference between the oxidized outer surface and the freshly planned surface.

I have some 20 year old brw bridge blanks and a lot of them are almost black on the outside - its always a treat to see whats inside - the whole rainbow is hiding in there ... I have some that have come out with blue/green stripes, oranges, reds, browns ... it can change a bunch in about 1/16-1/8 inch.

I saw some reclaimed redwood at a vendor close to me, all flatsawn, nothing usefull for a luthier, but it was gorgeous. A rich, deep, chocolate brown, all gone when sanded though! gaah

Thanks Bob!
