Someone I know needs to replace a rosette on an unfinished guitar. oops_sign [headinwall]

This knucklehead made the rosette too thin and sanded through it while getting it reading to send out for finish.

I, err, I mean, this guy is wondering if there is a good way to do this, or should he just replace the top/binding/purfling...... gaah [uncle]

I successfully removed a pearl rosette and replaced it with a wood rosette on a guitar that was ready to send out for finishing recently. I just took an old soundhole cutout and wrapped a little binding tape around the edge until it fit snuggly into the soundhole, trimmed the tape so that it wasn't sticking up, then very carefully used my circle cutter (laminate trimmer) to route out the old rosette (be sure to wear eye protection and breathing protection if routing out pearl!)

Thank you Justin and Todd. He'll be able to do that. [:Y:]
