Which perfling would you go with on a light colored guitar with mahogany binding? BWB or WBW? No pearl on this one.Oh, and it will be 20/20/20 perfling. |

IMO, I would go BWB - the other way the W will almost disappear. I would want to see the definition. Is the W really white , or is it maple .... I am not a fan of white plastic or fibre - too glaring ... |

It's all wood, maple i think.I was thinking the same thing that the black would show up better against the white top which is sitka.Either would be good against the mahogany i would think. |

Yeah possibly either on the side/binding joint - you have to hold it all together both ways and see what looks best to you ... As for the top, if you go mple/blk/maple, you will likely need another black to define the edge between the maple and the top - it will disappear for sure. Anytime I use a maple/X/maple purf scheme, there is ALWAYS another inside line added to the top purf, next to the top itself. |

BWB for sure! Actually, I've heard that WBW purfling actually doesn't sound as good either... flattens out the trebles and steals aways definition in the bass... True story! ![]() |

I have built mostly with lighter woods, so I always use b/w/b. Otherwise the inner white disappears. |

Mark, I would suggest BWB as well, the definition you get from the black really looks nice on the lighter colors. |

There are many possible choices for the middle line other than "W"/maple. Anything light enough to contrast with the black, and which also compliments your other woods. Maybe mahogany to match the bindings. Maybe the same wood as your B&S. Maybe something else altogether that just looks good with everything else. |

I'll probably go with BWB to get the contrast. It's only going on the top.The rosette is Black and white, so it should match that. the sides & back are ash which is as light as the top.I don't like black binding on blonde guitars for some reason , looks to plastic to me ,so i went with mahogany to get away from the black plastic look. |

Mark if you did not cut the purfling channel yet consider Mahog-O-Lam from Uncle Bob at RC Tonewoods. It bends very easy in the fox bender and looks fantastic on a mahogany guitar and would look great with mahogany binding. This pic is before the guitar was finished so it looks even better under finish. |

If your neck is mahogany, the matching neck and binding will look great, and the black and maple purfs will also look great with the spruce and ash. |

Hesh,That does look nice on that guitar. Todd,The neck i made for this one matches the body,it's laminated ash.I do have another neck made out of laminated mahogany for the next guitar that i thought about useing as well. When i get the binding on i'll look at both and decide which i like best.I usually don't like the guitars with necks that are a different color then the body though. But that's just me. |
