Hi all, Kent Chasson had a link in the Topic "parabolic bracing" and there you can hear Scott Van Linge talk show some before and after he carved on the braces. Didnt think itwould make a so big difference.

Thanks for posting this Lars, somehow I had missed that on Scott's web page.
Pretty impressive. Do go and read the bracing thread that Scott posted in his reply in the parabolic thread. It really helped me to balance the sound in my guitars.

OOoops.. I of course, missed that thread.

Does he say if he is carving the finger braces?? I would think he would ADD wood to get the notes more separated (stiffer) from muddy (too loose) idunno

Maybe I’m missing something here but I’m not overly impressed. I’d at least want to hear someone that was a decent musician put the instrument through it’s paces before coughing up twelve hundred bucks for a re-voice. Maybe you had to be there. If he's as good as advertised he needs a better demo sound file to showcase his talent.

Sorry but I don't see any 'proof'. Were the same brand of strings used for both demos and were they both newly installed before the recordings were made? Were the distances between mic and guitar exactly the same and were the levels set evenly? What was the humidity like during each recording? Most of all, was the playing done 'without bias'? I also didn't like the not-so-subtle notification of what I was hearing, ie, "Listen, this sucks" prior to and during the before sample and "See, this is much better" while we hear the after. Too much suggestion going on there.

Not saying the work didn't make a difference, just that a recording made weeks apart of an instrument being played by the guy that did the mods doesn't strike me as very objective.
