I recently picked up a pack of 3 HSS spiral upcut bits from Horror Fear ~$10. I was in the neighborhood, and my .25" bit was tired. To my surprise, these things cut amazingly. I've since purchased both up and down spiral carbides from Rockler for more than twice the money for a single bit. Neither cut as cleanly in spruce. I don't suspect they will last as long as carbides, but at that price I'll keep fresh ones around. |
