Name your favourite maker & why?
Examples or pictures or links would be good.
On the back of the the occasional posting of likes and dislike questions I did a search on the above subject and nothing came up!.

You should post this question in the off topic section.
Go to the bord index, you'll find it there

I took a poll of all the guitars I own, and 12 out of 15 were built by me. So I must be my favorite builder.

Of coarse, any builder will be tempted to name themselves first for the obvious reason
of them being able to create exactly what they want in a guitar if they have the proper and
necessary equipment, knowledge and experience. So it goes without saying...or I'm assuming
....that the question was intended for builders other than themselves when a builder is
answering.

I have such high respect for so many of the talented makers offering world class
guitars today that it's really tough to narrow it down to a single maker as my personal
favorite.

If I had to name one, though, i'd have to say Michael Bashkin. His design sense and
the grace with which every detail of his guitars flow together make them very attractive
to me. His tone is what the modern guitar builder is pursuing on every front with warm,
thick body and traditional power, but with the very welcome addition of a nicely developed
complexity that exceeds that of the traditional designs.

Michael himself makes his instruments very attractive as he presents a very honest and
humble origin for them. He's a skilled craftsman and expressive artist rolled into one luthier.

I could go on and on about several of my favorite builders and how much I love their work
and respect them as people as well as guitar makers, but Michael takes first on my list by
a narrow margin.

Wow I am not sure how to answer this I have favorites in may genres and then I have builders that I love their guitars as well the person. So in that last category I am going to put two names up for consideration based both on their work and their humanity. And that would be Tim McKnight and Tom Ribbecke in no particular order

Kevin,
I'd have to agree with you on this. I have many favorites, but Michael is an exception. I've been to his shop many times, and I'm always blown away by the quality of work, and his artistic sense. His guitars make beautiful music, and he is a truly humble man. I'm very lucky to have been able to spend some time with him. Because he is a Somogyi student, his bracing is very different, but the end result is a wonderful sounding guitar!
