Well Todd. It appears you wern't very clear on your "care for your new guitar" instructions. Possibly you may need a larger hammer.
Maybe he could hire you for string changes.

So, my 10yr/100,000 mile warranty doesn't cover the motor oil? The car is only 4 years old - it seems the factory oil shouldn't have gone bad that quickly. |

An electrician friend of mine asked me to change some strings for him as a favor, i told him i would do it if he came to my house and changed the lightbulbs. Seriously, stuff that seems obvious to us can lead to some bizzare and amusing behavior from our customers. Like the guy who tuned his guitar perfectly and then filled the tuning machines with super glue so he would "never have to tune it again"... brilliant. (true story) |

 I did repairs for a local guitar shop and he told the same superglue story from a customer. Once it's it's in tune, locktite it baby! I fear there may be more....

I never could understand why some people don't change strings. I know that some people don't like the "snappiness" of new ones, but sheesh...there's got to be a limit! I saw one of my guitars at a festival last year, and the thing sounded like it had been filled with that expanding foam. When I asked him when was the last time he had changed the strings, he told me that they were the ones on it when I sent it to him  . I put a new set on for him because I was embarassed to hear it. If he didn't like snappy strings, he should have been elated with the ones I tossed in the trash!

That's why I'm considering writing out a severe questionnaire for potential customers...Answer one question the wrong way, and you're SOL, buddy!!! Lol The last line would read something like; 'Failure to meet these stringent requirements will immediately negate ownership and the instrument will return to daddy’s loving arms. Blatant disregard of said rules might even result in a severe beating.' Ha! I should have been a lawyer... Unfortunately, money is no precursor to discernment and intelligence... (sigh) |

Yeah, I do. When one breaks, I change it. Surely no one changes them all at once.

OK, I'll have to confess that I do sometimes change them all at once. But that's just because I have to take them off to get my arm in the soundhole to get the pick out when it falls inside. And since they are off I figure I might as well change them. But if I can see the pick I will sometimes just take enough strings off to slide my hand in. You know what I'm talkin bout?  Before you say anything. I know, I know, they sale those sound hole covers. I see alot of players with them so I guess they don't like loosing their picks in there too. I'm going to have to get me one of those someday.

You know. It that plastic thingy that looks like an almost heart shaped big toe nail. You use it to slide up and down on the wound bass strings to make that really cool scratching sound from a high to low pitch. And to dampen the 3 high strings by weaving it between them. That way you have a 3 string bass. If you aint got one you need to get one! And get one of those Capos so you can make your guitar into a 6 string Uke too!

Really depends on the intensity of such a setting. Several hours of play can put a lot of sweat on the guitar. Dunno what that does to nitro, but I've seen some french polished guitars that were looking bad, with no much finish left on the right side of the upper bout, almost looking like it went through fire. |

Sweat will eat up nitro too. There are signs of it on my J45 where my right arm rest on the lower bout. And it won't buff out. But I don't care , I kind of like a guitar to look like it's been played after a while. But that's just me. |
