I have to cut tuner slots in one of my finger board pegheads. I also have to build a unique bridge... so I need to know how to cut saddle slots. Please reccomend tools, jigs, techniques that will helpme do this. Thanks guys! Mike |

Tuner slots- make up a routing template(or buy a super expensive one) this has the least amount of cleanup neccesary If you have a hollow morticing attachment in the right width for your drill press, it works pretty well, slightly more clean up Drill holes at the ends and connect them with a frame saw, or just drill a line of holes and chisel out the waste, the most amount of clean up Saddle slots- I rout the saddle slot on the guitar, after i have glued the bridge on. I use a rig similar to the saddle routing jig sold by stewmac, but shop made. This ensures (hopefully) that the saddle slot is exactly where you want it in relation to the fretboard. This method is probably not for everyone, but it does work well and eliminates intonation suprises. |
