I get some from the guy who makes my rods, but I am wondering where those of you who make your own rods get your truss rod nuts? I want to play around with some truss rod designs and would like a supplier for the nuts. Thanks Shane |

Are you talking about a brass-hex nut for a 3/16" Gibson style rod? I get them are Stew-Mac. |

Nope Barry, I am looking more for the Fender Bullet style but I would prefer one that wasn't plated. Essentially a steel tube that is threaded inside with a allen key slot on the other, about 8mm outside diametre that I can thread onto a 4mm threaded drill rod stock. I want to try making some smaller double acting rods. Shane |

Warmoth has a 5/32" (4mm) hex key nut (I assume a 10-32), but that's the closest to a direct source I've found. Ridiculous as it may seem, it's about impossible to find a 5mm Martin style nut (or previous Martin style I suppose). I don't know of a direct supplier though. If you want to order a few thousand you could have them made, but I don't know where to buy them off-the-shelf direct. Probably Japan or Korea. Let me know if you find a better source, as I'd be interested too. Edit: oh. If your looking for Fender Bullet or slotted, those can be had at AllParts, StewMac, and others I'm sure. Catch is they are probably all threaded for 10-32. Not sure about any manufacturer direct source where you could opt for custom threads and skip the plating though. |

Here are the specs I am looking for, I got a chance to take a couple of pics. They are about 5/8" long, with an 8 - 32 thread and use a 3/16 allen key. The allen key slot is .25" deep.
