I guess like everything, it all depends on what you mean by "good". Sata is excellent quality. But you'll pay for it. Don't forget filters and water traps as well as respirator etc. Darrin |

I have an Asturo as well. Love it. My compressor is a 24 gallon unit and runs it fine. The thread mentioned by Andy is a good one. There were a couple of threads on HVLP equipment running about the same time just recently. Give them a good read. Ken |

this is a topic that will have some good info in it. For one , you have pressurized cups , gravity feed , HVLP . I have a Sata and I also bought a Sata knock off at Grizzly. To be honest , I use the Grizzly as my undercoat ( sealer gun ) Sata is my finish sprayer. I use a touch upp gun , they are smaller but carry all the finish you need. I like them as the spray is more controllable . Now along with the gun , it is the finish that you use. I use Behlen or Mowhawk products. Lacquers from Home Depot and Lowes don't have as much solid content. The end result of the finish begins with the prep. Don't short cut the finishing . You don't need to have the highest priced gun , but you do need a fair grade of one. http://grizzly.com/products/searchresul ... pray%20gun I also have the contained unit. it has its own air source . It is great in that I don't have to worry about condensation or oil in the air. Getting an air compressor is only half the battle as you need to get the right filters . Your air has to be dry and oil free. I have in the shop a 50 gal 5 HP unit. I have 2 filters installed ,one is a water separator and the other filters out oil. I use a 2nd set of filters at my spray outlet so I am double filtered. If I were doing more finishing I would install a refrigerated dryer. Once you figure out what you need , practice. If you have a auto repair friend , he may be able to help. Acrylic lacquers work much like Nitro and you should be able to get some good advice on equipment there john |

If you'd rather spend money elsewhere, in my opinion, there is no need to buy expensive sprayguns to spray nitro. It is a very forgiving finish to spray and just about any gun will work. |
