HNT Gordon has some beautifully made wooden planes. They are a dream to use, easy to adjust, and the iron is very heavy. In most of their planes you can use the iron conventionally, or flip it over so the bevel is up, and turns it into a scraping plane. Works a treat. You can also try the bargain bin. Occasionally they have planes that might have a cosmetic flaw, such as a touch of sap wood that they are clearing out at a discount. All their product is great value for money, and the two bargain planes that I picked up are the two best planes I've ever used. |
