2009, ouch. I'm beginning to think I'm never going to get any younger.

I have a Wenge board I just cut into to make a headstock veneer. It would make a really pretty FB and bridge. It seems fairly dense and doesn't look any more porous than rosewood. I have read it can be problematic in gluing due to oils but this particular board doesn't appear too oily.

I'd like to know if anyone has used wenge paricularly for bridges.

I don't know if I'd use it for a bridge since it splits easily.

I dont know about bridges, but its used a lot for FBs on basses, and necks. See Warwick. I'll be using it as binding on my next. Not looking forward to the splinters.

In some ways, Wenge is great for bridges. It is very low damping. It's less dense than most bridge woods so works well if you like light weight bridges. I usually don't and the one time I tried it, I took it off and replaced it with heavier wood.

Splitting is certainly a concern though.

Glad to know it has been used successfully for fingerboards. I've been thinking about that too.
