It's time to encourage lurkers and new folks to register and join the fun!!! We would love to have you join us and all you need to do is register and jump in.

Once you do how about posting a bit about you and what brought you to the OLF?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks! :)

Ok, I'll play ;)

I've actually been lurking for over 2 years now. I started when I commissioned Peter to build an acoustic for me. You may remember this guitar...

Anyway, I love everything about guitars, so I come here to watch them being built. I have no delusion of every building one myself, though. I realize that I don't have the time, talent, tools, or patience to ever try, so I constantly drool over the pics that you guys post and have a great deal of admiration for the comraderie that exists here. I've been here so long, that I really feel as though I know a lot of you. My dream is to commission an electric at some point (an LP like the one that JJ built is at the top of my list ;) ).

Thanks for letting me lurk and admire. You guys are great.

I'm not a lurker or a newbie, but I just wanted to post so I can try to be the 300,000th post. :D

Actually I just wanted to say how great this site is. I, like a lot of you, belong to several other forums. What is so nice about the OLF is how amicably we generally get along. I've seen a few "discussions" happen when i was more of a lurker a few years ago. But not like the baiting and griping that I've seen at a lot of other places.

The people here are what make the difference. Their willingness to encourage, and give help when possible. I've seen so many times people just giving someone else materials or tools just to keep them going on a build. Very cool.

Great place.

Darrin

Hi Rog (and Darrin too..... :D ) - it's great to have you here and the guitar that Peter built for you is stunning!!!!!

I can relate about JJ's Les Paul and think that he would be my go-to-guy for a LP too!

Welcome to the OLF! [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap]

I joined a bit ago. My reason for joining is I've built a mandolin and now a bouzouki and the next is going to be a guitar. I've got to get the the thing polished up and strung. Then I'm building a custom case for it. I'll post pics if people are interested (now that I've got my camera!). I've built things since I could walk and love music, so the combination is unbeatable.

Oh, all right, I'll un-lurk! There, I registered, LOL!

I'm retired and have lots of time on my hands out here in the boondocks, so I've gone ahead and lost my mind and decided I need to build 'em as well as play 'em. I'm slowly getting ready for an OM build, if I ever decide which woods I want to use.

I've picked up a lot of good info by quietly lurking and reading around here. It's been quite awhile now. I guess I should finally chime in.

Oubaas :D

I'm mostly lurking around here. My building at home has been slow going. It's been a lot of work for an hour or two and then order another tool or stop to build another jig. Combine that with a natural tendency to procrastinate and...

However, I'm going back to school with Robbie O at Red Rocks again in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to making a cypress / spruce classical. I've got a good looking coco fretboard and bridge for it that I'm still pondering.

Thanks again to all of you who give so generously of your time and expertise.

Mike

Joe, Oubaas, and Mike a big welcome to the OLF to you folks! [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Oubaas my friend folks here will likely respond better to your posts if you could include at least a first name in your signature (signatures can be set-up to automatically display every time you post - you can find the settings in the "user control panel" link). Besides I might misspell your screen name and get in trouble...... :D
