Anyone use Honduran RW for bridges, and how does it compare to brazilian, and ebony?

The Honduran I have is very dense.
But as with all woods you may have some lite pieces.
If you made all your bridges of different woods BUT the same weight (mass) the wood selection would not matter.
The rest of the guitar equation would.

I haven't done it.... yet - but I would in a heart beat if it matched the guitar that I was building.

HRW is one of my favorite woods and has a very glassy "ping" much like BRW. Great stuff!

Many of my guitars have HRW bridge plates.

What about damping Mike ???? Are you saying that bridges that are the same weight sound the same - I dont believe it. Ebony will never ping like brw will.

As for honduran, I prefer brw these days .. I only ever used it a couple times, and the earliest one I replaced last summer ... although I also renecked, refinned the top, thinned it a bit ... too many variables to say that the bridge made the difference. But on the dark cedar top, the chocolate brw looks better !!!

Tony if the weight (mass) is the same -I think you'd have trouble telling them apart in a blind listening test!
try it !
let us know what you discover !
I have 30 year old Ebony that rings like Hells Bells!
But i use BRW also -because I like the looks !!!

mike - On a guitar ?? .. or simply dropping them on the floor in the shop ?? !!!! Not that I dont like ebony, but I got a load of brw to use up first !!! I have no time to go ripping bridges off and replacing them anyway

Great stuff for bridges, bridge plates as well as fingerboards.
