Hi all,

I wonder how thick your slants are for bending. I want to source this for a new bending machine and wonder what is best ...
Thanks,
Martin

I am using 10 thou spring steel. I used to use 18 thou stainless, but this is much better.

I use .012 stainless. I found the .020 to have too much spring-back when unclamping the bending shoes. The .012 seems to keep the shape better and is easier to work with. You can find it on Ebay or at Grainger http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3L695

YMMV

I use .012" blue spring steel slats from McMaster Carr. They are precut to 6" x 36".

I use .015 spring steel slats i got from BluesCreek. They do a great job supporting the sides while being bent on my homemade bender. [:Y:]

Steve,

How's the control factor when using spring steel? I have heard rumors of side breakage with spring steel.

Mike (nice thing about McMaster Carr is it arrives yesterday)
