Here is an old project of mine that came back for some reworking recently.
This is a small nylon string electric travel guitar which I built in the mid 90's as a collaboration with Noel Paul Stookey.
Part of the design parameter was to keep the length under 23" which the size of his carry-on bag.
Initially the only under saddle pickup theat I could find that would accomdate the wider classical spacing was a Highlander, this proved problematic though with the odd saddle/nut arrangement necessitated by the short length. I've recently updated it with the installation of the Fishman Matrix Infinity which was good with the wide string spacing and provided better seating for the saddle/nut arrangement.

Now isn't that the coolest little thing! Very clever and inventive, David. I can really see how your interest in the work of Torres has really paid off with this!

Now the questions that are begging to be asked: how does it sound and how is it to play?

Well Doug, kind of like playing from the 7th fret up on a regular guitar mainly.
The body design with the built in "knee rest" was Noel's idea so it is actually rather comfy to sit and play.
I'm pleased with the response of the new Fishman electronics. Fairly good string balance between bass and treble (the G is a little weak....big surprise..) and the on-board volume and tone (sort of....) contols are handy.

What a cool tool! That would be a great thing to have for someone who travels a lot, and would like to keep the practice up. Nice work, David.

Yep that is cool!

But, does it want to play "Leavin' On A Jet Plane" when you plug it in?
