A big thanks to all who had contributed to my questions about buying my first guitar amp. Well, today was the day that nearly 30 years of patience rewarded and I got down to business and made a purchase. There were many potential candidates, but in the end I had to choose from what was actually available, which meant that I wanted to actually try out the various amps. So that quickly ruled out the Roland Micro-cube that had some good endorsements. Other Roland's weren't easily available either. I tried out the little Marshall and got tired of it in about 2 minutes flat. Fender Super Champ was on the list, but was selling at $218 at only one store. I set about going to the one store that had the VOX Valvetronix 15 first. I had so much fun with that amp, and my wife could see it. She knew that I wouldn't be happy with anything less, so even though it was over the budget, it wasn't significantly over, and she said just buy it. So I did. $189 + taxes for anyone interested. Maybe one day I'll get to try out the Super Champ, etc. Now all I need is an electric guitar! Dark side, here I come. Watch out! |
