I have just finished a guitar using a shellac top coat..Total thickness of finish is .0025". The potential problem I see is that when I scrape off the finish to glue the bridge, that when I apply a water based glue to the surface of the gluing area, that the water will swell up the spruce top adjacent to the perimeter of the bridge...Any suggestions as to how to avoid this....Gavin

What Todd said.

That sounds like a very nice and thin finish you have there - be sure to post pics, we love pics... :)
