I recall a tutorial (O'Brien video maybe) showing how to use a LMI vacuum bridge clamp. There was mention that the clamp leaves marks on French polish. Have others experienced this? With other brands of clamps (I got mine from B. Garrish)? Any tips on how to avoid? Thanks.

If you wait a couple weeks to let the finish harden, then this won't be much of an issue. I think this problem also depends on how well you do your French Polish and if you are amalgamating the shellac correctly.

yes the vacuum will leave an impression but we are talking French polish so restoring the impression is 15 minutes of work

If the finish is cured then it will not leave a mark. For the method I use I have found that around three days cure time is sufficient. To learn this method see my recent post about my online French Polish class.
