Thank you Lance for allowing me to post this here.

Next year I will be offering an online French Polish course through the college I teach at.
Here are the details.
I will be teaching the same method I show in my Guitar Finishing DVD. We will cover the history of shellac, how to mix your own flakes, pore filling and surface prep, which will include hide glue and egg white sizing techniques, and how to apply the finish on different species of wood. We also will talk about how to rub out the finish to a high gloss or to satin.
The course will be on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00PM MST (Mountain standard time) It will begin on Feb 15th and run til March 15th. This is 5 Sundays for a total of 10 hours of online instruction. It will be live instruction. I will have live audio and video feeds from my shop. To participate all you need is a computer with high speed internet connection, a mic and a camera for your computer. I will be able to see your work and hear you and vice versa.
Since this class is through the college you must register as a student and enroll in the class. You can do this through the school's website. http://www.rrcc.edu The course number is 38888 FIW 175
The cost of the course is determined by the college. I have no influence there. It will be a one credit class which is currently $225 US dollars. There is also a couple of college related fees which bring the total to about $250 US dollars. Before the class I will contact all participants to let them know which materials to purchase.
For this class you will need to have conversational proficiency in the English language. I will consider offering the class in other languages later.
I have limited the number of spaces available in the class so go ahead and get registered if you intend on taking the class.
This is my first attempt at the online class thing. If it goes well then I can see myself doing more in the future on a variety of guitar related subjects.

I wanted to let folks know that the registration process kind of tripped me up yesterday and was a little difficult. Robbie and Jim Kirby helped me out - thanks guys!!! Here are some tips that will make sure that you have an easy go at it.

If you start out here: http://www.rrcc.edu/onlineenroll/newstu.html and at step 2 skipping the application for some stinkin financial aid it is much easier.

Also when asked select the "non-degree-seeking" choice if you get tripped up on that part.

Lastly, after you are registered your student number that is provided to you in the registration process is your user name and you will be given the opportunity to change your PIN to something that makes sense to you. It's a good idea to have your printer fired up too to print your registration confirmation.

When registering for Robbie's course just use the number, 388888 and it will find it with no problems.

Hey I just received an email from the Dean of admissions at Red Rocks Community College informing me that I have been approved for admission........... :D

Time to get out the old blue jeans with holes in them and grow my hair, all two of them, long again......... laughing6-hehe

This should be a good time and as many of you know Robbie has a gift for teaching and Lutherie so I am really looking forward to this!

I think this course is going to be very informative and fun. I look forward to doing more in the future, perhaps fretting, set up, inlay and things like that.

There are still a few days to enroll in this French polish course. I plan on doing a test run with all enrolled this coming weekend. This French polish method is the same one I just taught to Bob Bendetto this past week in my shop.

I just finished taking Robbie's French polish class at Red Rocks about a month ago. It was awesome! Robbie will have you laying a great finish down in no time at all. The class was very detailed and covered all the aspects of properly performing the technique. I used it on my first guitar I just finished building and it turned out great! This is one great investment! Take the class!

This past weekend a few of the participants and I did a test run to check everyone's camera and mic set ups for the class that begins next week. Hesh couldn't resist and just had to take a pic! haha
We have folks from Florida to Alaska and some points in between. Gonna be fun, especially with Hesh to liven things up. bliss
