So what's on your list as a great gift suggestion for yourself or another guitar builder? ![]() The one thing I wanted is a new book by New York Times best selling author Jonathan Kellerman called With Strings Attached. Kellerman is said to have a world class collection of guitars and if you are a fan of his novels, and I am, you will also know that he has a character in his novels who is a Luthier and also a female. I often wonder if this character named Robin is modeled after anyone we know or would like to know....... A guy can dream can't he...... ![]() Anyway the book just became available and might make a great gift for the Guitar builders that you know. Let's hear your holiday gift suggestions for guitar builders and/or what's on your list for Santa..... ![]() Attachment: 321-11.jpg Attachment: 321-11_back.jpg

Jaws 3 from Stew mac is on my Christmas list. I have the original Jaws and finally got to use it and love it, so I put Jaws 3 on my list for pressing in frets over the guitar body. I also got myself a couple of gifts from LMI: Saw Rasp 3ยบ reamer and then a few odds and ends like Bracewood, bridge blanks, fretwire, etc..... |

I had to order my own pressies - no one in my family knows what I really want/need, and I have to pay for everything anyway! They should be here just in time for Christmas.... OLF-MJ and OLF-SJ bending patterns & molds from John at Blues Creek Guitars. They're not listed on his website yet, but he's making them....give him a call. I'm sure I'll think of something else before the day.... ![]() My youngest is going to buy me a high-quality 4mm brad-point drill bit - to replace the one he ruined trying to drill through metal!!! ![]() I'm going to make my kids wrap the patterns/molds up for me.... ![]() Cheers, Dave F. P.S. Chuck, what do you need a radial arm saw for? I thought they'd pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur these days, and people used compound sliding miter saws instead (being as how they're much safer). |

I ordered a bunch of great wood from our very own BobC. It's the first package I would've received from him and I'm biting my nails in anticipation. According to the USPS tracking it's left the USA and will soon be in old Blighty - just in time to unwrap for xmas ![]() Mat |

Chuck, having a girlfriend implies that you go out on dates. How can a luthier afford to go on dates? D. |

David Newton wrote: Chuck, having a girlfriend implies that you go out on dates. How can a luthier afford to go on dates? D. Hi David, You know, that has become a problem. There has been many nights that I asked her if she minded me staying home to work on my guitar. When I'm on a roll it's hard for me to quit. She's a south paw, so last Christmas I splurged and bought her a left handed Johnson to learn on, boy was she happy. It's junk, although I didn't tell her that. WADDY T, you're going to get a skillet upside your head by the missus. Hope she don't read any of this....lol ![]() |

That is a cool book, Hesh. I've been flipping through it for a couple of weeks now. Another book worth getting if you don't have it is "Hand Made, Hand Played: The Art & Craft of Contemporary Guitars" by Robert Shaw. There are some lovely instruments in there including at least a couple of names I recognize from the OLF. |
