Big thanks to Grit Laskin for the armrest inspiration, to Tim McKnight for the Cross soundport design, to Joe White for a wonderful finish, and to Ervin for teaching me how to voice this guitar! This one took a me a long time. I built 2 similar guitars, both with these armrests. They were hard! The armrest is radiused, not beveled. The radial purfling is koa. Macassar ebont binding throughout. Spalted maple rosette. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wow, Very nice. I can't get my head around that arm rest. I've seen the beveled rests before, but how in the world did you make this happen? |

Dave Fifield wrote: .......How about giving us a how-to tutorial on the radiused arm rest? I for one would very much appreciate it.......... I didn't take enough pictures. I'll be doing another one soon. I'll be sure to take enough pictures for that.Dave Fifield wrote: ......How does it sound? I might be partial, ![]() but I think it sounds great. The Somogyi course is really paying of in terms of tone. This thin - light weight top with my new bracing design makes a very responsive guitar with lots of punch and bottom end. The thinner tops that move more freely tend to have more color and depth than the ones I built with standard bracing. I love sound ports, and while this one designed by Tim McKnight is beautiful, I think ones with larger openings sound better to the player. It lets more of the bottom end come through the sound port. As always - YMMV. ![]() |

Sweet looking bridge. Chuck I was thinking about going to a more standard design as these are a little tough to make. But thanks to encouragement here from you and others, I'll keep this design for now. |

Stunning .... Is the armrest veneered (thick veneer maybe) , or is it a solid block ??? Very nicely done. |

I was able to snap a few picks when I dropped of the guitar. It is nice to be able to do that rather than mail it across the country. He likes it! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
