I was on the Taylor factory tour today (Sweet facility and great tour, BTW) and they had a couple thousand board feet of Okoume seasoning on pallets next to Sepele, Mahogany, and ebony. Out tour guide had not seen it before and had no idea what it was or what it was going to be. I've only seen Okoume in reference to nicer grade plywood. Anybody else know of its potential use in Luthiery?

Could be. I'll maybe just try to give them a call after the Holiday. They're usually pretty friendly and helpful over there.
Got a sneak peak at a brand new model they're bringing to the market in '09 that they don't even have marketing materials for yet. Its sweet.

I have a stack of veneer backer crotch slabs, but only cut it for solid body tops. Seems a bit stringy not unlike lauan or low grade Meranti. Rotary peeled for marine plywood I believe. I throw all bits and rims away that aren't figured enough for electric top use.
