I am starting a build of a standard (soprano) uke, as a prelude to starting on a classical, based on Cumpiano et al. I have assembled timbers, as well as tracings off a uke from a local builder, and have harvested dimensions from this site. The one I neglected to note, is the thickness of the neck. I have figures for the width of fb at 12th and at nut, but it is the thickness, between the heel and the headstock that I require. Any offers?? regards Alastair |

Alastair I suggest you get in touch with the uketalk.com forum. You will find many uke builders there. Also consider buying a plan from Hanalima, Stewmac or LMI. |

Here is some old plan. Might be usefull http://www.nalu-music.com/nalu/Plans1915.pdf Mine is a tenor and it is 19 mm at the nut and 25 at the 9nth fret ( 12 fret to the body) This is with the fingerboard You do not need to make it too thin as it is very narrow. Just carve it and try it! Good luck |
