hi people, ok i have a guitar that i like and the truss rod has gone click up by the thread where you adjust relief. ok i know stew mac have a tool to do this but its expensive considering the value of the guitar.Anyway, can i replace the truss rod by removing the skunk stripe at the rear? the adjustment is at the nut end and the bolt is at the bottom which i can access via removing the wooden stop. if i have to remove the fretboard then i shant bother doing the repair as i have never done this before. please could you kindly advise...cheers jason |

Jason my friend I wanted to bump this for you and also suggest that folks may not be replying because they may not understand what you are dealing with. I didn't understand the skunk stripe part. Perhaps post pics too and I am sure this very helpful bunch will be able to make suggestions. |

Jason, If by skunk stripe you mean the stripe on the back of the neck, that won't be an option for you. It's from the laminations that run through the thickness of the neck. Sorry, but the only way to get the truss rod out is to remove the fretboard. Pat |
