Very productive weekend for me:

Glued the back on the guitar using HHG

Built my binding machine taking many cues from Chris's machine

Cut a bunch of curly maple for binding

Built a pipe bender

Learned to bend bindings on a pipe

I finally finished my binding jig fixture. I gave it a test run and things are looking good. :D I got some shop time finally and cleaned it up some (not like HeshClean™). I have to say that I finally opened the seal coat shellac, the 100% de-waxed stuff...amazingly different looking that the other bullseye stuff.

I also washed and waxed my car, changed the oil, cleaned and re-oiled the air filter, and went roller skating with my daughter 8-). I also picked up a nice ROS on craigslist, though I was too slow in getting down there and missed the PC laminate trimmer for $10 that I really was going there to get. [headinwall] Overall I'm doing good this weekend.

Filippo my friend nice progress. I like the fluted heel too and think that it's a great touch.

Are those chamois's that I see on your workbench? If so that is a great idea and I just might even finally replace my beloved silicon encrusted black mat with one of those.

Darin nice progress on the jig - you will love it!

Andy also great progress on the jig - this is a binding jig weekend.....

Mike what did you get done....... :D

Me I putzed around rearranging things and painting a door in the shop. It also is snowing here or was the last time I saw the light of day.......

Here is my progress so far... I need to glue on the bridge plate and I am waiting for the radius dish (I ordered one from Luthier Suppliers... great price both shipping and initial price and he uses waterproof MDF that doesn't warp... hopefully) so I can glue on the top. I got a 25' dish that will do for top and back... I figure that the string tension will probably flatten the top and curve the back a little. I re-glued the braces and hopefully it will hold the arch. Thank you the guy that sent me extra bracewood.

I posted a shot of my #2 build yesterday, but since then I've made more progress, so I'll share. Started getting the finish on the body. It's got about 3 coats of tru-oil in this pic. Don't laugh at my crooked route between the neck pickup and control cavity. It'll be covered by the pickguard, and I got lazy and did it freehand idunno

Lots of productive work by all! Filippo, not only is the rosette looking beautiful, but I also really like the way the gentle curve on the end of the fret board compliments your rosette. I'm a professional advertising graphic designer, and your design solution really "speaks" to me. As for me, I didn't do a single thing in my shop this weekend. Instead, I worked on my other passionate pursuit: Landscape painting. You guys don't wanna see it. Believe me.
However, tomorrow or the next day, my brass tailpiece core will be back from the plater. When I get it assembled with the wood covers, I will post something. Maybe this thread will still be active then. I think you will all find more to like about the tailpiece than the painting!

Well, I am still jig building. I did manage to cut the harp guitar back and tops Thursday. Look really nice... may post some "pieces" pics later. But I still need to complete my go-bar deck and radius dishes. I glued two 24x24 slabs of 3/4" MDF board for each dish (15 and 25 foot radii). Roughly rounded them on the band saw then used a shop made router jig to round them out nicely. I started the bowl shaping jig and got all of it done except the arc templates. My jig will actually mount to the the go-bar deck (instead of using the wheels).

Thats all I had time for.

Well Saturday I finished my binding and purf channels and routed for the Rib rest. Was trying to figure out how to make a template for routing the binding and purf channels around the rib rest on the back. Then I went out last night and had some wine and played the harmonica on a song with my best friends Rebekah and Rob. I had so much fun last night that I haven't done a thing all day if you know what I mean. ;)

Just recently finished putting the finish on my 2nd acoustic build and while waiting for the stuff to cure out I started this Friday. Its my 7th electric....African Mahogany and Walnut,Maple laminated neck. I do think that I enjoy building acoustic guitars a little more than the electrics. Can't wait to start on #3 in the next few weeks. I'm looking forward to a month off of work in December. Just think of all the shop time coming up!! Yippie!!

I'm building a stand for the Jet 10-20 drum sander I got last week, but couldn't safely crosscut 24" wide plywood on the TS, so I made this crosscut jig. Works like a charm. Easy, accurate and safe. Highly recommended.

I have been on the road a lot for that past two weeks and have made little progress. But I did get home Friday night to find a new bending machine along with forms for an OM and OLF SJ had arrived from John at Blues Creek. Too cool! Now I can bend the maple sides I am getting from Jason for my OLF SJ! I finished prepping the rims on my Southeast Asian Rosewood OM, and it is now ready for the soundboard and back. Next step is the bracing for the soundboard. Prior to penciling the bracing pattern on my soundboard, I decided to apply a coat of shellac to the top surface. While I was at it, I put a coat of shellac on the new bending machine and forms.

I wanted to start cutting braces, but ran out of time.

Pat... Build a jig to make a jig... seems the life of a guitar builder, huh? I REALLY need to build a stand for my 10-20. That thing is way to heavy to keep moving around. Perhaps I will just buy the ready made one.

Update: Built a well constructed, adjustable long compass tonight. Got the process down now. Gonna carve out my first dish tomorrow.

I got 2 cam clamps built, plust 90% of 2 more done. That means I saved about $100 bucks on clamps and spend about 20 hours so far on them. But, it is a great deal because I figure my time is only worth about a $1/hr, so it is a great deal!! :)

I sure hope my second build is quicker than this first one. But I am learning that it is ok to take a long time. I am learning a LOT as I go - even when just building cam clamps and such.

Go work all you others - your work looks great

Got one that is ready to hit the road. I still have to finish finishing the back side of the neck which was left unfinished to receive a shellac and bees wax rubdown, but its close. It sounds very nice as well!
I dont build with mahogany very often, but I can see why Colin likes it to much! Top is Carpathian..

As for the inlay art, that was done by my good friend and OLF Sponsor Paul Bordeaux! He is a master for sure!

I've had this on on my bench for almost 2 years. I've not been able to motivate myself to finish it so it just sat around while I worked on other stuff. As you can see, it's a dread... Mahogany with an Adi top. Last week, my son announced that he'd like to take guitar lessons, so I decided to finish this one up for him. This weekend I filled the dings with Z-poxy and gave it a burst (my first). This is how it came out.

It'll get some clear lacquer this week after I scrape the overspray from the rosette and purfling. Also cut some neck blanks from some salvaged Caribbean Mahogany I picked up in Miami last year. My shop also got a long overdue cleaning.
