Does anyone know where I can find some old celluloid in tortoise shell? I'm looking for pieces that are around 3mm thick, more or less. |

You are at least looking at paying a hazmat fee to ship. I got some tortoise binding material from Martin a couple of years ago and didn't have to pay the upcharge, but the times, they are a changin'. ![]() |

Binding or pickguard or...? Axiom, Inc. is a good source for celluloid nitrate, here's some tortoise colored binding material http://axinc.net/storefront/c-10-celluloid-nitrate-tortoise.aspx |

Hi Arnt. I need it for a pickguard. I just found Axiom right before reading your post. Glad that there are some places keeping the flame(no pun) alive!! |

Not sure if it is celluloid, in fact, I think it is not, but Luthier's Mercantile carries the Tor-Tis pickguard material that was designed to match the old stuff from the 30's and 40's and it doesn't crack or shrink. I love the look of the vintage. |

Tor-tis is not celluloid (but I agree that it looks good!). |
