Well, I finally got the bandsaw running. It came with a 3/4" blade, perhaps ok for resawing, but too wide for shape cutting. So, what width blade do you like for cutting top & back shapes? 1/8"? Mike |

I use a 6 tooth raker . My favorites are 1/8 and 1/4 , this lets you get into some tighter radii. http://www.grizzlyindustrial.com/produc ... lade/H8546 this is grizzly tools . I like the lennox if you can find them and this link it so timber wolf blades. john |

Hey Mike and John, I use a 1/4 inch ten tooth general woodworking blade from Olson on my Delta 14. It works well on tops backs side profiles and get this, cutting four inch solid mahogany neck blank glueups. Great little blade. Plus a fellow OLFer told me for jig building the same blade will work on aluminum. Honestly I thought they were full of it. I tried it and am now passing on the same bull. Really it works well. I have notice one thing, my lower bearing froze up. I'm wondering if those aluminum shavings got in that bearing? Regardless, they are cheap. Mike, Is that the harp guitar you are building in your avatar? If so, that was fast. |

Thanks Bruce & John for the blade tips. Bruce, that is notmy harpguitar. It is one owned by Gregg Miner at harpguitars.net. It IS like the one I am building. I thought it was finally time for me to add an appropriate avatar. Mike |
