well, i am pretty much done with the body of my first guitar. its all bound and i am much happier with my second attempt at binding this one. zero gaps using the rubber bands from stew mac.

my question is how do i go about the final sanding before finish. i do have a couple things left to do such as level the upper bout for the fingerboard and possibly cut a mortise for the neck if i decide against a butt joint. is a random orbit ok for this task or should i hand sand only? i am a bit worried about getting dust from the darker binding and sides onto the carpathian top. what suggestions can you make about methods and order of procedure for this part of the build?

Heath bro I sand with 120 and then follow-up with 220. I have done this with my Festool ROS and by hand and either will take any dark dust off that nice white top.

do you hit the edges of the top with the random orbit without worry of dark dust contamination from the binding?
