I've been doing some Google searches for suppliers of Recon Stone for inlay, and the only one that I've found supplies more to the knife making industry. Minimum thickness at 1/8". Any ideas on where to purchase in dimensions more suited for instrument inlay? |

What is reconstituted stone? I saw it on the site, but what is it actually? A powder? Pressed pieces? Mike |

Masecraft supply is where I also get mine. It's stone that has been smashed up and formed back together with some kind of epoxi or binder. It comes in slabs and when you buy it they cut slices off the slab. Generaly 1/4" thick but you can resaw it thinner. I wouldn't go thinner then 1/16". And at that you have to be careful not to break it. I haven't done a whole lot with it just a signature, fret dots and some Tele pickup toppers in turquoise. |

Bandsaw with a fine toothed blade. But a jewelers saw or scroll saw would work if you have good cutting technic. I'll cut it thicker and run it through a tickness sander. I bought a HF oscillating spindle sander that I put a fence on and use that for thicknessing small stuff like braces, binding and etc. |

If you buy it from Rescuepearl.com you won't have to resaw it. |
