My current project is a 000 style guitar with a 24.9" scale. I may use this guitar for slack key. Can you give me string recommendations for standard tuning and slack key (DGDGBD)? idunno

Rich, on my 24.9 OOOs I use Custom Light strings (11-52), Martin MSP4050 for fingerstyle in standard tuning. I build my guitars specifically for that gauge string though, so you will have to consider that. For alterered tunings I use strings balanced for that tuning so for instance if you are lowering a string by a full tone say E to D then increase the string gauge by one so go from say an 11 to a 12 or from a 52 to a 54.

Thanks Colin, I was beginning to believe that the forum had no players just builders.

Juststrings.com has told me that John Pearse makes a set specifically for slack key (13 to 56 gauge). I think rather than just bigger I need higher tension for shorter scale?
