I think this will be post 3,000. A fine way to mark this milestone would be a name-this-wood contest. As usual, a fine tub-o-lard is at stake. Here goes: Attachment: Sycamom Bridge Sm.jpg If you are the kind to peek at file names, then this one will throw you. Good luck! Steve (aka JJ) |

It looks like it could be a paler piece of bloodwood, but I suspect you've plotted to stump us with something really unusual and probably domestic... something from Texas, perhaps... some kinda red mesquitey or madroney kinda thing (I can't remember if you have madrone in Texas)... BTW, if you re-shape those wings a bit, you could make the lines formed by the intersection of the middle section and the curve of the wings come right down to the points of your bottom profile. Am I making myself clear? That would look really good, I think. It does take some careful hand work to pull that off... |

No, no, no, no, I'm losing count... no, no, and no. Actually, a couple of you are close, and Todd Rose is moving in the right direction. I will say this, it's not a rosewood. But boy, doesn't it look like Tulipwood? For JJ: ![]() ![]() ![]() Steve |

They say the mind is the first thing to go............. I'm digging through my bin of native Texas woods......... and I can't remember what some of them are. I didn't label them because I knew what they were when I got them. I can't even remember when or where I got some of them now. ![]() But a couple of candidates are Red Pecan and Bois d'Arc (Bodark to any fellow Texans). Jay |
