Can I pick you brains on which way to cut this mahogany block to make the inside heel block? I'll also need to have enough to make the neck heel too.

Here's a couple pictures of what I have.

Muchas gracias

Ideally you want to have the end grain on the sides of the block -not glued to anything-, top and back plates glued to the flat sawn part and sides glued to the quartersawn part. I generally use slightly rift sawn stock for the blocks with the most quartersawn part glued to the sides.

Oh, no! LMI is now calling the head block "heel block." If that's a heel block, what is the block you glue to the neck when you are laminating a heel to the neck? And then what is the block at the bottom of the guitar? Or isn't that the bottom? I guess not while you are playing.

Riddle: what is both head and heel, and is found in the middle?

Many thanks to you Laurent. That got me to see the block of wood and how to cut it. I really appreciate your help.
