Okay folks. Here it is. I had a lot of help from a lot of different people on a lot of different subjects. So now I owe. Wanted you to see what your advice and my hands produced. This guitar has actually been done for about 2 weeks now. I spent an entire week working on the setup and intonation. Been playing it every day. I gotta say...I love it. It's a very loud guitar for an OM. Some of the tones that come out of this thing are almost piano like.

Like most 1st builds it's got some workmanship issues that need resolution but those will have to be resolved on the next build. Right now I am very content just to lay this thing across my leg and play it. Nearly every part of this guitar was built more than once but I won't go into all that.

Hope you enjoy the pics. They are posted both for your pleasure and your scrutiny in no particular order.

Chris

Looks good here in Texas, Chris!
Could you tell us a bit about the rosette, w/ perhaps a closeup?

I'll try and get a better pic of the rosette tomorrow and post it. It's made out of a bookmatched piece of figured East Indian Rosewood with a Bloodwood ring, roughly 60 thou thick, on the inside and the outside. Actually....maybe these will help.

Fantastic looking guitar. I love the bloodwood binding, and the satin finish is just cool.

Looks really great Chris! It's hard to tell from the pics but did the amber shellac tint the top much. I'm doing a parlour for #2 and looking for a bit more of a vintage look. Thought of giving amber shellac a try. [:Y:] [:Y:]

Well Done,
Danny

Danny....the answer to your question is really a matter of taste. Brunettes or blondes if you will.

I don't think it colored the top too much. I love it. But I would suggest that you sneak up on it by using an ultra pale dewaxed....and then if the top isn't quite amber enough for you....you put a couple of drops of amber dye in the last coat and 'catch' the color you are looking for. I buy my dyes from Jeff Jewitt at Homesteadfinishing.com.

Thanks everyone. My next is a mahogany OM with a Brazilian Cherry wedge on the back..... :geek:
