OK gang some of you know that I usually think a LITTLE outside the box when it comes to making instruments..... so I'm waiting for a bunch of Bass pickups to arrive from Ebayland..... some are the split type which are the perfect size for a solid bodied electric mandolin....... so I had a guitarist pal round last night and he was looking at some of my builds and I told him abou the e-mando idea and showed him online pics of a mandocaster and a mandobird........ after a long conversation we came to the agreement that if I was to build an emando it should be either an Ibanez Jem or an Eddie Van Halen Frankenstrat tribute. I hate pointy headstocks, so the EVH tribute wins....... there is NO WAY I'm going to fit a floating bridge, so it'll be a hardtail....... so, anyone ever come across such a thing? |

Lol, thanks mate!! I just had a rummage in my scraps box and there's a couple of old strat bridges in there. one I can dismantle and cut down the top plate to make a flat hard tail bridge, but the other...... I COULD cut off the top 1/3 of it to leave a 4 sring vintage style strat bridge......... hmmmmmmmm ![]() |
