There is a local Wood Crafter store that has Brazilian Cherry and a wood called Makore. There is also a wood I think is call Bocoate? Does anyone have any comments regarding using any of these woods to build guitars? |

All good tonewoods. Makore, Bocote and Brazilian Cherry. Makore is really nice to use and makes a mahogany like guitar.... soundwise. |

I use Makore with curly Sycamore for my homemade purfs. Bocote is very oily -be careful of it! Looks nice but can be a tough wood to glue up. Jatoba -Brazilian Cherry is nice-hard- comes in many different figures and is hard enough to use for fingerboards!! I have some birdeye sets i cut in the earlt 80's!! Mike |

Bocote is very oily -be careful of it! When I looked at the Bocote I thought it looked very oily. I Thought about finger board material. The material I am looking at is very 1/4 sawn. Have you ever used 1/4 sawn Makore for B&S? The Brazilian Cheery looks really good for neck material? Mike |
