Okay, my shop shares space with the cars. It is a bit messy now as I was wiring and adding new outlets over the weekend and in the process of relocating tools:

But most of the luthiery business happens in the basement:

Kind of an awkward setup, but my garage is not heated, and Michigan winters are a tad bit cold. I find myself running back and forth to the garage a half dozen times some evenings. But in the house, I can crank up the tunes and work away.

Ken, I have a similar problem. While I have a nice sized shop, it isn't heated or cooled so I can see myself spending some of my working time inside the house this winter.

I've always thought the ideal shop setup would be in a walkout basement. Never get too cold or too hot and you can walk outside without going through the house.......or go to the shop without leaving the house.
