I was in Guitar Center a few weeks ago and they use these leather straps with slots on each end and hang on wall. The straps hook up to the tuning pegs. Simple, seemingly inexpensive and effective. They wouldnt sell me any and didnt know the source (floor guys, manager was not in). Wondering if anyone has seen these from a supplier. I made some from scrap leather but not as nice as the ones they had. Thanks.

Hey Rich, try a good tack and feed store, Tractor Supply, etc. They sell small bags of leather strips for saddle repair. A 1lb bag will set you back about 10 bucks. I'm looking at a bag I picked up last year... Says "Leather Repair Bundle" and distributed by Weaver Leather. Hope that helps.

OK, Jody I'll bite-Why shouldn't you hang guitars on outside walls?

Temperature extremes? Same reason you aren't supposed to put a piano on an outside wall. Probably less of a concern in modern, well insulated houses, but my house, for instance, built in the '50's does not have exterior insulated walls.

Jim, thanks for the great tip, will check it out tomorrow. And also to the others for responding. As it turns out I did hang a couple on outside walls - now I will have to rearrange the room AGAIN gaah
