I came across these on Ebay and with a little research found the manufacturer's web site. http://www.protektormodel.com/ They say #14 or 14A are what they sell to guitar shops. These look interesting, do any of you have this item and what do you think of it. Fred Tellier |

I got a pair of leather rifle rests at Wal Mart for less than 20.00. They work great. |

I also have a the leather rifle rest set that got pressed into use as a neck support. The rear rifle rest appears to be what is being sold as a neck rest, but the front rest would work as well. |

I have one that I got from LMI and I love the thing....... They are also very heavy and excellent for weighting things down while glue dries. Nice product! |

I made my own out a chunk of Mahogany, and then covered it with leather. |

I ordered a #14 from the company's web site, $29.00 including shipping to Canada. LMI gets a good mark up on these, but a company must make a profit and they probably pay the price I payed. Fred |

I think they're great. I've got something similar to a 14a that I bought empty and filled with #9 shot and then tacked it down onto a piece of 3/4" plywood. It's pretty much a permanent fixture on my bench now. It weighs in at about 16 pounds. I also have something similar to one of their "brick" bags, also filled with shot, and rest it on a piece of about 4"L X 4"W plywood with cross notches cut into the bottom of it to fit over back braces. I glued some cork onto the bottom of it to make sure it's non-marring. I then use various thinner pieces of scrap wood between the bag and the plywood until I can wedge it tightly underneath the fingerboard extension. I can then happily tap away on refrets over the FB extension without damage to the guitar top. For full refrets I still use a bag of shot sitting in a little plywood cradle I made for it but thats probably just habit on my part as the little 14a bag of shot would probably do just fine. Jay |

I originally bought my 'Bald Eagle' benchrests (best make out there by far) for shooting Benchrest rifle competition with my 6PPC. But now both rests get called into action as neck supports. The BR front support can finely adjusted for heigth so making it more useful for many tasks that the bunny-eared leather bag can't handle. Attachment: Dsc01775.jpg Colin |

I filled my new protector leather neck support today, I think it will be a valuable addition to my shop. It is made of quite thick and very soft leather, and when filled with sand is heavy enough to keep the guitar in place and the neck well supported. Nothing like a new tool to keep a guitar nut happy.
