| Post subject: | Glue vs epoxy |
I have an unfinished mandolin that my grandfather started and never got to finish. It appears to me that he used epoxy to bond the wood together. Why epoxy? Why not glue? It has no back or top yet but when I am ready should I use epoxy to attach them? |

Hot hide glue, Fish glue or white or ivory wood workers glue (Titebond original) is best for future repairability and sonic attributes. Epoxy is good for attaching fretboards to necks due to no water in the mixture, but while epoxy can be seperated for future repair is is much more dificult and adds more weight than the above mentioned glues. |

Just to clearify, epoxy is a glue (snot could be considered glue as long as it held two things together) Use whatever glue you'd like to use. Yellow woodworking glue, fish glue, hide glue. It will all work for you. |
