Beauty shots to be picked up at the photographer tomorrow, but I couldn't wait! Here's some preliminary pics of my two new guitars, both Grand Concerts.

All zoot courtesy of Bob C. Thanks, Bob!

The Taz Tiger Myrtle sports an unusually figured walnut armrest/rosette/bridge/headplate, with walnut binding (soundport too!), sitka top. Also features a Lacewood neck with carbon fiber reinforcement...I was wondering how that would turn out but with the CF in there, it's stable as a rock!

The second is Quilted Sapele, sitka top, mahogany neck. I'll post some closeups of the headstock, it's a 60+ piece inlay of a tiger.

Thanks for looking, and thanks to everybody for all the insight I gain from this forum!

Jon
(PS) Happy belated birthday, Hesh!

WOW - I see two very cool guitars Jon my friend!!!

Tell me please, since I always ask builders who have built with Tiger - is the Tiger guitar surprisingly loud?

Yes it is! I went with a slightly smaller sound hole and a port on the top rib, so there's plenty of bass. I braced the treble side of the soundboard a little heavier to compensate, and the guitar is LOUD with a nice response overall with light gauge strings. I went with .100 thickness on the back and .090 on the sides since it seemed like heavy enough stock...my set was, anyway. The top is .107 Sitka, BTW.

Thanks for the kind words!

Two nice guitars! Some detail photos would be nice, too. I really appreciate your sharing. I soak up the inspiration that results from your perspiration.

Thanks

Yet again... another couple of beauties.... is it just me or are there others out there who as players are darn frustrated that we cant get to sample all these wonderful instruments that OLF members keep producing?

Interesting emotions portrayed by these guitars... The bridges look sad, but the volutes look happy!

Great looking guitars btw. I really like the shape of the soundbox. Nice work!

Here's some of the beauty shots I just got back yesterday.....

Steve K. - I loved your Tiger Myrtle guitar, shown on the AussieTonewoods site...beautiful! The figure on mine is much different, not so many "leopard spots"...but pretty in it's own right.

Bruce D. - Unfortunately no sounds clips....grrrr!....was in too big a hurry to get 'em out the door to hang them on a dealer's wall. The Sapele is nice and warm sounding, well balanced. The Tiger Myrtle is very loud, full sounding with nice highs. Will be adding sound ports more often in the future, for sure!

Don W. - Thanks! I guess I never looked at the "emotions" they portray...now that you mention it, maybe they're bipolar? :)

I sedond what Steve said about that neck... very sharp looking with that body. Love the curves on these boxes...and the more Tiger Myrtle I see, the more motivated I get to use some of my sets.

I just wish the guy I bought my myrtle from hadn't left his stock wrapped up in plastic...it all rotted. Not real bright.
gaah
I could have had bunches more for cheap money if he hadn't ruined it. <sigh>

Excellent work. The quilted sapele is wonderful and I am sure it sounds great too. I wish I could listen to a soundclip.
