I removed a black pickguard from a guitar that came in for repair a while back. Which glue do you guys recommend to put the pickguard back on? |

If it's plastic then acetone base glue-which Stew -Mac sells works. Anything else I use 3M spray adhesive on! Mike |

Rob; The acetone base glue will actually melt the finish as it adheres & sets up. As for the 3m stuff- If you follow the directions there is no problems-at least I;ve had no returns after using it for many years! I forgot to mention Srew macs pickguard adhesive sheets ! They work well also. Mike ![]() |

I like and have used the Stew Mac clear plastic sheet pickguard material. This one is an original black plastic guard that I need to keep. I am thinking the 3M spray adhesive is the way to go but I want to be sure it won't destroy the lacquer finish around the edges and that it also won't lose its grip over time. |

The adhesive Todd is referring to is probably the 3M 467 transfer adhesive. I order rolls from R.S. Hughes (not cheap at about $50/roll last time I ordered for 3"x60yd). You could call StewMac, because I have a feeling that's the adhesive they sell in pre-cut sheets. If you don't need much, you could also try some print or sign makers shops to pick up the last unused end of a roll, as they often use it for all sorts of graphics and name plates. |

Looks like both sponsors Stew Mac and LMI carry this product in affordable sheets instead of lifetime supplies. Life is good again! ![]() Product number for LMI - FTFTSS Product number for Stew Mac - 4597 |
