I know there are a fair amount of people using Ameritage for their standard case and I've considered them too. I don't want this thread to become a "I use (insert other brand here) cases because I think they are better etc..." type thread so please if you don't mind, keep those comments out of this thread, Thanks. What I'd like to see is your opinion of Cedar Creek cases, what series you've used and or offer as your standard case included in your sale of instruments. |

Hi Rod .... my std case is the TKL 9100 series, but almost no one wants one once they see the Ameritage and how much better they are made for not a lot more .... |

Rod my friend PM Bob Connor and ask him about Cedar Creek. Bob was at Cedar Creek 2 weeks ago for the purpose of evaluating their cases. I spoke to Bob about what he found and it was and is very promising with excellent Luthier pricing available. From what I heard from Bob I plan on contacting Cedar Creek and finding out more. |

I use Cedar Creek Rod. Built like a tank. Double neck bracing, 5 Ply, six heavy latches. Leather Handle. You can get them arch top and back or just arch top. They are heavier than the standard SKB cases for sure. If weight is a consideration.... |

So Bruce, you're using the 600 series? As the 300 (top arch only) and 400 (top and back arch) are not 5 ply. Oh and have you ordered for an OSJ from them? That's what I'm looking for. |

I have one on order, that should be arriving soon. I was pretty pleased with the process and the price. |

Rod, I'm not sure what series they've been, but every Cedar Creek case I've seen has been very nice. You don't get a logo embroidered on the front, but they were very nice and seemed well made. |

I was at Cedar Creek Cases in Virginia a couple of weeks ago as Hesh mentioned. I was very impressed with their cases and service and have ordered one with the view to using them as our standard caes. You can get a logo embroidered on most of the coverings that they offer, as well as a brass plaque, hygrometer etc If you want to know prices PM me Rod. (although I think Hesh may still have most of my Cedar Creek info in the States) However I can't really give a qualified opinion until I've used them for a bit but I'm happy enough to give them a run. Rod, Cedar Creek is the custom division of TKL I do believe. The Olson SJ floating around here was wearing an old worn TKL. So, me bets they have the specs already for an SJ built on Olson's take. If it's a long distance international call for you, I'll call 'em tomorrow for you, just tell me what you want. Pop me an email. Honestly I don't remember the series without going back to the paperwork, which is in the shop. I do remember the five ply. I built my son an OSJ cedar on rosewood and stuck it in a Cedar Creek Dred Case I had on hand. Fits pretty nicely except at the waist itself. It'll do, heard no complaints from my son. He knew I'd kick him in the shins.... |

They are indeed part of TKL Bruce. While I was there Dennis Reamy showed me these which are a product to take on Calton, except they only weigh 8 pounds. They're not on the TKL website but the opening page has an electric case that looks fairly similar. Retail on these is about $750 but luthier pricing is attractive. He said if you have a luthier account with Cedar Creek you will get access to these. They come in a variety of colours as well. Very nice case I thought. Now ain't that snazzy. What do you think Bob? I heard of a tour bus catching on fire and a Calton saving the day. The Calton was toasted lightly, and outer part of the seal was burned. But inside was clean as a whistle. They put the bus fire out quickly. Imagine a 10K Olson being inside. Seven Fifty would seem cheap insurance..... I imagine a regular case may have worked as well. Give us your take on this Cedar Creek Space Age Case.... ![]() |

I've only had a brief look at one Bruce but I'm going to place an order and use it before I make any judgements. I do have a brochure but I left it in Ann Arbor so I won't be able to get my hands on it until the mail arrives from Hesh. If you are keen maybe get in touch with Cedar Creek and see if they'll send you out some information. I had heard of the bus fire and the Calton case. In fact I think there may even be some pics floating around the net somewhere. |

The pictures of the Calton case are on Calton's website. Thanks folks, I think I'll be giving Cedar Creek a try. |

Check it out. Click on the first pic above and see what I saw. I thought I was looking at a Rainsong Guitar in Kehei. Looks just the same. Are these cases graphite? |
