Okay, new guy here again. I've got my top thicknessed for my parlor, I've go the bracing plans from LMI...any thoughts on scalloping the braces for a parlor? Lighter than usual because of the size? Any opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Steve |

Now at about .125, start feeling and listening to the wood and stop when it feels right. Can't tell you what the feel of that particular board should be, but you will feel it in stiffness, seperation etc. Since first and not sure maybe, probably not lower than .100 or so. Keep it light inside the box. Might consider non scallop bracing (what is I quess noted as parabolic) Learning the wood and feel is part of the learning process of building. |

Good luck with your Parlor. One more tip on the Antes plan. Quite a few people, including myself have been confounded by the one page plan that has one drawing for both the top and bottom of the top. So if you follow it as planned, (not flipped) the lower legs end up on the wrong side. Just something to think about. Incidentally, I left it reversed and it sounds just fine. I did use 1/4" bracing and an extra long bridge so it would extend over the X. If you want to see it or hear it, I did post it back in August on this forum. Dave |

Steve, I believe he's referring to the height at the intersection point of the X-brace (not including the "cap" that most folks add). Eric |
