Chris Cordle here from North Muskegon, MI. Don't know who's still here that may remember me as it's been about a year already since I was here with all the good folks on the OLF.

Much has happened in my life since I was here that has sidetracked me.
First, about a year ago, I formed a rock/retro/disco/R&B/hip-hop band with my brothers and a first cousin called "Yard Sale Underwear" which has been a real fountain of youth for the soul! We've just had a ton of fun and have begun to be a pretty big draw here in West Michigan.

Secondly, I found out about a month ago that I am a victim of the down-sizing trend. After 20+ years at my job at the local newspaper I am being let go. I'm being bought out which gives us a cushion for about a year. Not quite sure what the future holds for me employment-wise. My wife's a bachelor RN who has been working only part-time since our daughter was born in July of 06 so she can go back full-time which will help. She's just waiting for the right opportunity to open up that is hopefully, family-friendly.

Closing on a high-note ... not the Steve Perry kind ... the good news kind .... I am very happy to be back here absorbing all this knowledge so freely and unselfishly handed down ... and #4 is about to go off for finish by the end of the week!

-Chris

Hesh my friend, so nice to hear from you!

It was nice to see you were still here. As I remember, last I was here you were contemplating leaving. Glad that situation was resolved. I've missed your help and encouragement.

Hi Chris, good to see you around again, funny thing is I was thinking about you the other day, remembering some communication with you a year or so ago on the AGF and wondering how your guitar building was coming along...sorry to hear about the job, hope things work out for ya!

Hi Greg,
Yes, it's been a while since I've been to the AGF as well ... actually much longer span than my time away here.
Building was slowed down for a bit as my baby girl got mobile and became a handful!
I'm back at it again but not at my previous pace. #4 is off getting sprayed as we speak and it may just be my finest build yet. I experimented with side purfling and mitred corners on the end wedge, tucked brace ends, sound hole trim and a few other little details that were new for me.
I hope to post some pics when it gets back from the sprayer.

Nice to hear from you,
Chris

Joe,

I missed you too ... it seems like many moons since we first met over at the AGF .... back in our old Taylor acquisition phase!
How's your finish business going?
I am very sorry to have missed everyone at the Ann Arbor gathering ... that would have been really special.

Good to hear from you buddy ....

Ann Arbor was great! You would have really enjoyed and it would have been great to see you and your builds. There's always next time though. Things are well with finishing. Glad to have you back on the forums! [:Y:]

Hey Chris - Thanks for the call the other night. I'm working on #3 & #4 at the same time! ...and a special welcome to the unemployed in West Michigan. Stop by sometime and we'll share some more brews and talk about building.

Welcome back Chris. I missed you!

Sorry about your job loss. I'm sure you'll find something. Although the journey to find it will likely be difficult, you'll be a better person for it and look back and say, that wasn't so bad.

Hey, why not try to make a living building guitars. It is probably real easy. laughing6-hehe

Steve, nice to hear from you .....

Yeah, that's pretty funny, but honestly, it is what I'd like to do. I've been toying around the idea of making a presentation to the local community college about instructing a class for beginning guitar making.

Hi Ron, always great talking and hanging out with you. Be careful what you wish for though ... once I'm jobless I could become a nuisance around your shop! bliss

Hi Bruce nice to hear from you ...

I'll try & get some up soon.
It's off getting sprayed right now so maybe after it gets back I'll take a couple before final assembly & set up.

#4 is Curly Anigre back & sides with sitka top, rosewood bindings & trim and this was also my first attempt at side purflings and mitred corners at the end wedge.
