Post subject:  3/32" Chisel Availability?

I've searched high and low, but this size chisel doesn't seems to be available. Does anyone know who has them? I want to use It for excavating the saddle slot in a bridge. Thanks for any leads.

That's just over 2mm. 2mm chisels are available. I know LMI has them, but so does Highland Woodworking, and some others.

Hi Frank,
I can't grind a 2mm chisel because I don't have a grinder (or the skill), but thanks just the same.

I've seen the 2mm chisels all over the place. I guess i could make the saddle 1/8" since the 2mm size chisel is more readily available. Thanks Waddy.

Thanks,

Meaning that they are probably closer to 3/32 than 2mm?

Hi Waddy,
I'll go to toolsforworkingwood next week in Brooklyn, and check out some 2mm chisels.

Thanks,
Ron M.

Ron, If you can "excavating the saddle slot in a bridge" you can take 1/32" off of a chisel.
All you need is a belt sander and some water. Get one of those cheap Marples blue handle 1/8" chisels (they are not bad chisels by the way ) and grind off the 1/32".
If you really can't grind one and can't find one let me know. I have some laying around that might be that size and if not I can grind them to that size. You might have to put a handle on it though.

Thanks Lvc for the offer and the tips. I do have a Belt sander and I could order a 1/8" Marples, and I have some water laughing6-hehe.

The Pfeil 2mm #1 sweep (flat) single bevel chisel is usually available from Woodcraft or other Pfeil venders and is a nice tool for saddle slots. Also - my saddles are about 3" long (you had asked me at one time).

Hi Todd,
Actually, i was asking about the depth of the saddle (3/32" 1/8") but thanks for telling the length as well. Also, I'll look into the The Pfeil 2mm chisel.

Thanks,
Ron M.
