:?: I have a assembled rim that came from the Martin factory and I am trying to identify the wood. It is not Mahogany or Sapele it is more yellow and very dense. It have a dovetail neck block or I believe it to be a better model. I know they have been fooling around with alternative or sustainable woods but I am not farmiliar with this wood my best guess it looks like black locust to me. Has anyone ever seen a Locust Martin? Maybe it was a test or experiment? If it's Locust I think I may try to finish it to see how it sounds. Thanks for your insights. Bill the Greenman

Maybe Lyptus? A farmed sustainable yeild hybrid product. They cut the tree down, and it grows back by itself. They can do this a couple times before they have to "replant"
