Post subject:  bridge and go-bar
I was just curious if anyone has ever used the go bar clamping to glue the bridge to the body?
If not....what is the reason for not doing so?
I'm at that stage on my 1st build and got to wondering?

J buddy using a go-bar deck for gluing on a bridge is not a good idea.

My go-bars exert approx. 8 lbs of pressure each. If you used go-bars they would be smashing the dome of the top of your guitar and possibly crush it........

Instead I use a bridge clamping caul and a couple of C type clamps where the bridge plate also has a clamping caul on it (not shown).

I used a gobar to glue up my first 2 bridges with HHG. But you MUST use a jack or block under the bridge caul to prevent the force from causing a top problem. After 5 years, those bridges are still fine. There are all kinds of ways to glue bridges...just think it through properly.

Yeper you must support under the bridge if you go-bar clamp. Simpler and just as efficent to stay as you have it now.

I only do it on my lutes, but then I do glue the bridge on before gluing on the top. On my guitar fitted with a tornavoz I did have to glue on the bridge without access to the inside.
